Chris Pratt has revealed that he goes to the gym in order to help his career.

The actor, who dropped 65lbs for his leading role in Guardians of the Galaxy, admitted that he now needs to stay in shape for his job.

He told Britain's Glamour magazine: "It has translated to a lot of success in my career, so I understand it is part of my job now.

"I've grown to really like staying in shape. No matter what I do, I get really passionate about it. If that means eating fattening foods and drinking beer, then goddamn I will drink more beer and eat more than anyone else.

"I love to indulge, so I've given a lot of that up and traded it for time spent running or biking or swimming or in the gym, it's the same thing, I just do it to the best of my abilities.

"It sucks sometimes - I woke up at 5.30 this morning and did an hour and a half in the gym, and I didn't do it for the fun of it, I did it because it's required of me to be my best."

Pratt also revealed that his wife Anna Faris's excellent home-cooking was one of the reasons he used to be overweight.

He said: "Back when I was fat, it was truly the result of her being an exceptional cook and loving to feed me. It works for us."
