It has been announced that ABC series Revenge has not been renewed for a fifth season with the show set to come to a conclusion at the end of the current fourth season.

Executive producer Sunil Nayar said of the decision to end the show, "We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story.

"We've been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale - which is fabulous - everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to, to end.  This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks."

Revenge debuted on ABC in 2011 and stars Emily VanCamp as a woman plotting an elaborate plan of revenge. It runs on RTÉ2, on Tuesdays at 9.55pm.

With the news that this will be the final series of Revenge, RTÉ2 has confirmed that it will broadcast the series' finale as a dramatic double bill on Tuesday May 19.

The show has proved to be a big hit with Irish audiences attracting an average audience of 200,000 viewers per episode and Irish fans will get to see the explosive Revenge finale first on RTÉ2.
