Co-star and writer Jennifer Saunders is hopeful that the Absolutely Fabulous movie will begin shooting this autumn.
Speaking on ITV show Loose Women, the comedian, who played PR chief and lush extraordinaire Edina Monsoon in the smash BBC comedy, also dropped hints about the plot.
She said that the film "involves all the main characters and virtually everyone that's ever been in the series - all those characters - and we're in London, and sometimes we might go to the south of France, I'm hoping," she said.
"I'm waiting for the budget! It could be anywhere - if it's a big budget, it will be the Bahamas!"
Saunders also explained that she was a little reluctant to write the movie because she was concerned it would be "awful", adding: "I think that's why I didn't do it for a while.
"I thought, 'Wouldn't it be awful if it was awful', but we're all so old, and Joanna [Lumley] said to me, 'Do it before we die!' We're all on the brink."
