Actor John Cleese has admitted he hasn't a notion as to how Facebook works.

The 75-year-old Fawlty Towers star said that he finds social media outlets confusing and is finding it hard to find someone who can explain it to him.

In an interview with The New York Post's Page Six website, Cleese said: ''I don't begin to understand contemporary society. Nobody has yet been able to explain Facebook to me.

''I just don't know why anybody would do it and that's quite scary because you've got to be in some sort of touch with your audience . . . If you don't understand your audience, the best thing to do is get out.''

On Friday Cleese reunited with the surviving cast members of Monty Python And The Holy Grail for a screening of the movie at the Tribeca film festival.
