Sam Claflin has been linked to a role in Rogue One, the first instalment of the Star Wars: Anthology films.
According to The Wrap, The Hunger Games star is in talks for a "substantial role" in director Gareth Edwards' movie.
If cast, he would join The Theory of Everything's Felicity Jones and Bloodline's Ben Mendelsohn in the film, which follows a group of resistance fighters who unite to steal the plans to the Death Star.
Nightcrawler star Riz Ahmed is also in talks to join the cast of the action movie.
Edwards said of the film, which is set in the Star Wars universe in between Episode III and IV: "It's basically in an era where there are no Jedi, where they're all but extinct. It's about the fact that God's not coming to save us.
"We're on our own and we have to do this ourselves. The absence of Jedi is omnipresent in the film, it hangs over the whole movie. It comes down to a group of individuals who don't have special powers but have to bring hope and justice to the galaxy."
Rogue One is due to be released in December 2016.
