Next Transformers movie is planned for 2017

Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner has stated that the next Transformers film is scheduled for 2017.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Goldner also confirmed the upcoming sequel to 2014's Transformers: Age of Extinction would see writer Akiva Goldsman recruited by Paramount to work on the franchise.

"We have in fact brought in Akiva Goldsman to lead a group of writers to really create a strategic plan around Transformers," Goldner explained.

"We think there are any number of stories to be told from the brand that has been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology."

The Hasbro CEO added: "We would expect the sequel to the Transformers movie to happen in 2017."

Mark Wahlberg has already confirmed that he will return for the next instalment after starring in Transformers:Age of Extinction, which made more than $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales.
