A young James Joyce - long before Bloomsday
A young James Joyce - long before Bloomsday

The Bloomsday Festival runs this year from June 11-16. Among the highlights is the Bloomsday interview featuring Stephen Fry in conversation with Senator David Norris.

The Fry and Norris conversation takes place at O’Reilly Theatre in Joyce’s alma mater of Belvedere College on Tuesday, June 16 at 8.00pm. Tickets €25.00 and €22.50.

Feast of Epiphanies: Reinvigorating Joyce - an evening of high tea and high conversation - takes place at the James Joyce Centre on Thursday June 11 at  6.00pm, tickets €25.00.

Special guests include the writers Dermot Bolger Belinda McKeon and Paul Murray. The subject for discussion is: how do you tackle one of Ireland’s most famously opaque authors and make his work accessible and exciting for a modern audience?

Yeats & Joyce: An Evening of Music & Poetry is bound to attract fans of great Irish literature at the James Joyce Centre, on Saturday June 13 at 7.30pm, tickets €15.

To mark the 150th anniversary of Yeats’ birth, the James Joyce Centre celebrates the lives and works of both Yeats and Joyce. The poet was one of Joyce’s earliest supporters and Joyce in turn acknowledged Yeats as among the greatest of modern poets. Tenor Noel O’Grady and actress Kate O’Toole will lead an intimate celebration through music and recital.

Many other Joyce-related events will take place, including the Bizarre Bloomsday Brunch, North Great George’s Street on Sunday  June 14, at 12.00pm - dressing up is actively encouraged.

The Festival runs over six days and full programme details can be found at http://bloomsdayfestival.ie/programme. Tickets now on sale.
