Belgian all-girl choir phenomenon Scala & Kolacny Brothers, who sing choral versions of Oasis, U2, and Kings of Leon songs, return to Ireland perform at Cork Opera House on June 26 and the Olympia Theatre, Dublin on June 27.
The ensemble’s last sold-out show at the Olympia Theatre saw standing ovations for this indie-rock choir, comprised of the two Kolacny brothers, Steven and Stijn, and Scala, their all-girl choir.
Steven plays the piano, Stijn conducts the choir and the brothers usually work with 30 to 40 singers.
Scala & Kolacny Brothers take classic rock and indie songs and reinvent them as elegiac hymns with the piano often the sole accompaniment to the voices. On occasion, they also use drum machines, sequencers and synthesizers, and also often perform with a full rock band.
Patrons can expect newly-revitalised versions of Use Somebody by Kings of Leon, Everlong by Foo Fighters, Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, Champagne Supernova by Oasis), With or Without You by U2, Nothing Else Matters Metallica, and Creep by Radiohead.
The band’s take on the latter composition in the movie The Social Network brought this unique outfit to the attention of a whole new audience.
Tickets for The Olympia cost from €32.50 including booking fee.
