Dáithí O Sé won't be resting on his laurels when the Today show breaks for the summer - the Kerryman is set to present the new series of Taste of Success, giving him the chance to sample new food creations from across the country.
The search has begun for the next Taste of Success winner. The prize is a guaranteed contract with Lidl Ireland, meaning the winner's food product will be on the shelves in 140 supermarkets across the country.
Speaking to RTÉ TEN, Dáithí revealed that he can't wait to start tasting the culinary delights the entrants create. "I’m delighted to be on the road with The Taste of Success for the summer, tasting food from all the corners of our country, I’ll be in my element," he said.
"It’s a great opportunity for anyone who has an interest in food to showcase their talent and possibly walk away with a prize worth €100,000 plus the winning product will be on the shelves of Lidl stores nationwide, who doesn’t want that?”
The competition is open to everyone who has an original food product idea. Whether it's your granny's delicious bread recipe, a tasty new jam, or a sauce combination you've concocted or even your own special occasion dessert.
Padraig McCarthy won the first season of The Taste Of Success with a slow-braised beef short rib in a pancetta and cider sauce.
He reckons you have to be passionate about food to enter this competition. “To anyone who is thinking of applying, you have to be passionate about your food, have confidence in your product and the courage of your conviction, and just do it - just enter. It’s a massive opportunity and it’s definitely changed my life for the better and I would encourage anyone to go and do it”.
