Mariah Carey has sold a pitch for a proposed Christmas movie to the studio New Line.
The singer and actor presented idea to Brett Ratner for a seasonal movie that she also intends to star in.
The plot of the film is undisclosed, but it is believed to explore the ability of music to transport the listener back in time. The soundtrack will be made up of songs popularised by the singer as well as festive songs from other artists.
Carey enjoyed a massive hit in 1994 with the single All I Want for Christmas is You which has sold more than 14 million copies to date. She also released the album Merry Christmas. Her movie performances include Precious and Glitter.
Brett Ratner will produce the film, and a director has yet to be announced.
