Peter Firth has spoken about the upcoming movie version of the popular BBC spy drama Spooks.
The 61-year-old actor will reprise his role as Harry Pearce in Spooks: The Greater Good when it's released in cinemas on May 8.
Speaking to PA he said: "We set a benchmark with the TV show. I think we created a new level of TV drama and we are hopeful to do this for this film. So it's the same deal but bigger.
"We've worked really hard to make the transition and not to emulate anything that's out there. There are some obvious comparisons of the same genre in this country, but we're not going there. We're very happy with it and we're excited to show it to everyone."
He added that it "felt good" to play Pearce again, following the end of the show in 2011 after a run of ten seasons, and a variety of cast members including Matthew Macfadyen, Jenny Agutter and Robert Glenister.
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington features as a new character, MI5 spy Will Holloway, in a storyline focused on Pearce being forced to resign after terrorist Adem Qasim (Elyes Gabel) escapes from MI5 custody.
When Pearce disappears off a bridge into the Thames, Harington's former agent Holloway is drafted in from Moscow to foil a bomb threat from Qasim and uncover the truth surrounding his former mentor.
