Derek Mooney returns to RTÉ Radio 1 on Sunday April 5 with the first episode in a new series of his nature show, Mooney Goes Wild.

The hour-long programme will air on Sundays from 10:00pm to 11:00pm, and Mooney will be joined by longtime contributors Eanna Ní Lamhna, Terry Flanagan, Dr Richard Collins and Philip McCabe.

Episode one features a visit to the Bat Lab in University College Dublin, an interview with filmmaker Josh Zeman about "the loneliest whale in the world", and reports on the small hive beetle and the dangers to owls on Kerry's roads.

Mooney said: "We started out on this journey into the natural world 20 years ago and two decades later we have barely scratched the surface."

He continued: "Spring is the season when nature comes alive: the birds are singing, the mammals are out and the leaves are beginning to appear. So it's the right time for Mooney Goes Wild to return.

"In a fixed slot on Sunday evenings, it couldn't be better. I'm asking our listeners to make a date with nature every Sunday at 10:00pm."
