The History channel has commissioned a fourth season of its Ireland-shot adventure-drama Vikings, with production due to begin later this Spring.

The third season is currently airing on History and is the Number One cable show on US television on Thursday nights.

History and H2 Executive Vice President and General Manager Dirk Hoogstra said: "Vikings has raided the hearts of both audiences and critics, establishing itself as one of the most compelling, visually stunning dramas on television."

Open castings for Vikings take place in Dublin next week at Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar on Tuesday March 31 (9:30am-4:30pm) and Wednesday April 1 (9:30am-5:00pm).
