Missing Room to Improve? Well fear not, RTÉ's brand new property show, Home of the Year, begins on RTÉ One on Thursday at 8:30pm. Here's a little look at what to expect.

Over the next two months, 21 homes will compete for the Home of the Year title, with three very different properties featuring each week.

Making the tough decisions are three expert judges: interior designer Hugh Wallace, award-winning architect Declan O'Donnell and textiles and homewares designer Helen James.

From self-built dream homes to eco-friendly country retreats, Home of the Year features people who have built their dream home, just the way they like it.

The series showcases homes all over the country and includes: a surprising semi-d, a small terraced home with a clever interior, a converted church, an architecturally distinct flood-proof home and a family home with clever storage solutions, to name just a few.

The judges are looking for individuality, functionality and clever design. They each score the homes out of 10 and the home with the highest combined score goes through to the final, where the ultimate winner will be crowned.

Check out a sneak peek of Home of the Year, which kicks-off on RTÉ One on Thursday at 8:30pm.
