Robert Pattinson, James Franco and Al Pacino are in talks to star in The Trap, with Idris Elba set to replace Jamie Foxx in the lead role.

Elba will take the part of Rico, a gangster rapper confronted by a friend from the past who has been released from prison after 14 years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Benicio Del Toro's character Slim is out for revenge and enlists Max (Pattinson) and Rico's manager (Franco) to help him.

It is not yet known what role Pacino will have in the project.

The Trap is being helmed by Harmony Korine and is set for release later this year.

Franco shared the news on his Instagram account saying he can't wait to work with Korine again following their 2012 film Spring Breakers.
