The Hobbit's Richard Armitage, The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal and The Impossible's Tom Holland have joined the cast of the new Irish action-thriller Pilgrimage, which is due to go into production next month.
Directed by Brendan Muldowney (Love Eternal, Savage), written by Jamie Hannigan and developed and financed with assistance from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board, Pilgrimage will shoot for seven weeks in the west of Ireland and in the Ardennes region of Belgium.
It is set in 13th-century Ireland and follows a group of monks as they embark on a journey to bring "their monastery's holiest relic to Rome".
En route, the secrets of their precious cargo are revealed.
