Controversial Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has been booked to host Have I Got News for You again.

Jimmy Mulville of producers Hat Trick said during a Broadcasting Press Guild breakfast that Clarkson is due to present the third episode of the forthcoming season of the comedy panel show - despite currently being suspended from Top Gear presenting duties.

"We always have a field day with Jeremy," The Guardian quotes Hat Trick managing director Mulville as saying. "Maybe we will get the producer on so he can hit Jeremy Clarkson live on television.

"As far as I'm concerned, he is hosting Have I Got News for You in early May. The BBC haven't told me what to do yet. It'll be an interesting conversation.

"I think he's a fantastic broadcaster and I concentrate on that. He's due to host the third episode."

Clarkson has previously hosted Have I Got News for You on 11 occasions, and also appeared on the show as a guest on Paul Merton's team.

The final episodes in the current run of Top Gear have been pulled from the BBC schedules after Clarkson was suspended following a "fracas" with a producer.
