God Bless the Child, a new play based on stories by Frank O’Connor, will open for a two-week run at the Gaiety on Tuesday March 31.
Three of the Cork master’s funniest stories, My Oedipus Complex, The Genius, and First Confession are brought together within a single full-length play, adapted and directed by Patrick Talbot.
God Bless The Child won rave reviews when it played to packed houses at Cork's Everyman Theatre last year. Adapted for the stage and directed by Patrick Talbot, it stars Ciaran Bermingham, Shane Casey and Gary Murphy.
Meet young Michael, who goes into mortal combat with his father when he returns from the First World War. Then get to know Larry, a genius who can’t understand why the world can’t keep up with him. Perhaps the best-known character is Jackie, who must make his first confession and communion, while also dealing with his obstreperous grandmother.
