Summer fiction workshop with Sean O'Reilly in June

The Stinging Fly is running an intensive week-long daytime workshop, from Monday June 22 to Friday June 26, designed for writers of short stories and/or the novel, led by novelist Sean O'Reilly.

During the workshop, each writer’s work will be up for in-depth discussion twice. All the work will have been shared and closely read in advance. Also included in the structure of the course are three sessions on aspects of narrative prose by guest speakers, including the editors of The Stinging Fly literary magazine. 

Up to ten writers will be offered a place based on work submitted by the application deadline, Thursday, April 23. The workshop will run each day from 10.15am-4.30pm  at the Irish Writers Centre, 19 Parnell Square, Dublin 1. Cost: €325 (or €300 for IWC members.)

The Stinging Fly as publishing house has brought some very successful books to readers in recent years, including course leader Sean O' Reilly's acclaimed novel, Watermark. 

Mary Costello's striking debut collection of short stories,The China Factory was published by Stinging Fly, as was Colin Barrett's Young Skins. Barrett won the 2014 Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, the 2014 Rooney Prize for Irish Literature and he was also winner of the 2014 Guardian first book award.
