The Royal Irish Academy of Music and The Lir, Ireland's National Academy of Dramatic Art, will collaborate for the first time this March with the world-renowned Julliard School in New York.
Talented young singers, actors and pianists from Ireland and the US are joining forces to perform Ten Thousand Miles Away, a dramatic piece devised and artistically led by pianist Iain Burnside and directed by Conor Hanratty.
The work interweaves song and poetry by writers including WB Yeats, Séamus Heaney and Paul Durcan, and explores the special relationship between the US and Ireland.
Ten Thousand Miles Away debuts at The Lir in Dublin, March 13 to 14, and will then be performed at the Juilliard School on March 18 and 19.
RIAM Director Deborah Kelleher is also performing a number of works from this programme with Academy singers Rebecca Rodgers, Andrew Gavin and Peter Manning at the St Patrick’s Day luncheon of the Ireland US Council on March 16.
