Piers Morgan warmed up The Late Late Show crowd last night by telling viewers that he was Irish.
The straight talker told Ryan Tubridy: "I’m Irish. Let’s get this on the table right away.
"My father was from Galway and the family moved to Banagher in Offaly. I am one of you."
He didn't just decide to share little known facts about himself - he said that George Clooney “drinks like a bloody fish” and that Hugh Grant is a “ghastly little man”.
At the end of the night, he took to Twitter to say: "Really enjoyed jousting with Ryan. Great interviewer. @RTELateLateShow"
He later added: "Genuinely touched by all the nice reaction to my @RTELateLateShow interview. Felt like home. #ireland"
He also seemed impressed that he was trending in Ireland on Twitter: "Still trending in Ireland at 03.48am. Nice.@RTELateLateShow."
Then he posted a post-show selfie of himself with Tubridy: "The night is young. . #tubridy #dublin #guinness"
Before heading off into the night, he wrote: "Off into the nightlife of Dublin. I fully intend to crack the craic."
Regardless of the late night, Morgan was up today playing golf in Carton House and tweeted: "I was 4 up after 9 in a tornado @padraig_h - and my Aussie opponent quit. Don't know what you were so worried about. @CartonHouse #Kildare."
