Sigourney Weaver has revealed that she offered to play the role of Slimer in the new Ghostbusters reboot.
The actress played Dana Barrett in the original 1984 hit movie and the 1989 sequel. She said she would join director Paul Feig's reboot as long as she could play the famous green ghost.
She told Digital Spy about the possibility of appearing in the newest edition of the franchise: "I offered when I met [director Paul Feig]... at the Saturday Night Live reunion.
"He said, 'We'd love to have you in it'. I said, 'Well, only if I can play Slimer'. He said he didn't think that would work out."
Weaver added: "I'm such a huge fan of all those women and I can't wait to see what they do with it.
Feig's Ghostbusters reboot will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon and will be released on July 22, 2016.
