Today Wednesday March 4 is World CSI Day as US broadcaster CBS aims to enter the Guinness World Records by staging the planet's largest ever TV drama simulcast - and you can play your part!

This latest global event will feature a worldwide simulcast of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode entitled Kitty. The episode aired as the planted spin-off for CSI: Cyber, the next link in the franchise chain.

To coincide with the show's 7pm start on the US East Coast, it means CSI: Crime Scene Investigation starts on RTÉ2 tonight (Wednesday Mar 4) at midnight.

The episode stars recent Oscar winner Patricia Arquette leads the team as FBI Special Agent Avery Ryan. She’s joined by former Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, and Peter MacNichol, whose previous includes Grey’s Anatomy, 24 and Ally McBeal.

The current  largest ever TV drama simulcast record was set by the special 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who, which was broadcast in 98 countries across six continents in November 2013.
