A retrospective of singer Björk's work will open at New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) next week.

Simply titled Björk, the exhibition runs from March 8 to June 7, with MoMA saying it "draws from more than 20 years of the artist's daring and innovative projects and her eight full-length albums to chronicle her career through sound, film, visuals, instruments, objects, and costumes".

It includes life-sized and miniature replicas of Björk in some of her most famous outfits, a gameleste (musical instrument), pipe organ, gravity harp and Tesla coil from the album Biophilia, a sound and video installation for the track Black Lake and "an interactive, location-based audio experience through Björk's albums".

Mashable.com reports that visitors are given headphones and a Volkswagen-developed smartphone app which, together with Bluetooth transmitters, pinpoints where patrons are in the exhibition and provides relevant audio content.

Klaus Biesenbach, MoMA Chief Curator-at-Large, said: "The exhibition's augmented audio guide marries scientific research with sound and music composition to create an immersive experience."
