The feature film version of the recent TG4 thriller series An Bronntanas (The Gift) has been honoured with the Jury's Special Award at the Boston Irish Film Festival.
Producer Ciarán Ó Cofaigh said: "We were very proud of the success of the series when it was broadcast recently on TG4, but it's apparent that the film version has its own legs."
He continued: "The production of An Bronntanas was an enormous challenge and we believe we have achieved this production to a high international standard.
"Winning this award in Boston and the film's selection for many other festivals will further promote the film and the Irish language."
Directed by Tom Collins (Kings), and starring Dara Devaney (Na Cloigne), Owen McDonnell (Single Handed) and John Finn (Cold Case), An Bronntanas tells the story of the crew of a local independent lifeboat in Connemara who find over a million euro worth of drugs on an abandoned fishing boat.
It has recently been screened in Barbados and Washington, and will soon be shown in Chicago and Rome.
