Piper Liam O’Flynn will celebrate his 70th birthday in concert with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and special guests on St Patrick’s Day at the National Concert Hall..
The evening will be presented and conducted by David Brophy.
Many first came to know O'Flynn's accomplishments through that iconic "black" Planxty album, back in the early 70s. But there was much to come afterwards, including notable success with Shaun Davey's The Brendan Voyage
The concert commences at 8pm. Special guests include Seán Keane (fiddle), Paddy Glackin (fiddle), Séamie O'Dowd (guitar), Rod McVey (keyboards), Neil Martin (cello), and Rita Connolly (vocals).

To mark this celebration, The Rolling Wave on RTÉ Radio 1 presents two programmes featuring highlights from O'FLynn's career in Irish music, on Sunday March 8 and 15 at 10pm.
These programmes will be repeated on RTÉ lyric fm on Monday March 9 and 16, at 7pm.
