With the current series of Operation Transformation coming to a close tomorrow night, the leaders reveal their hopes for after the show.
When asked on the John Murray show on RTÉ Radio 1 this morning (February 25) to reflect on his Operation Transformation journey leader Mark McArdle said: "Getting onto the show was only one of the small steps and one of the biggest concerns you have even getting on the show is that there was no guarantee that you were actually going to lose some weight, there was a lot of hard work to be done."
Fellow leader Alan Mullen acknowledged that the hard work doesn't end with the series: "I said from day one, it's kind of like a book I'm writing and Operation Transformation is the first chapter, the kick start I needed, it really helped me.
"I've a long way to travel. I'm 24 stone 6, not including this week's weigh in, so it wasn't just 7 weeks for me, it's the next 2 to 3 years for me. That's the plan, to keep going."
Having sustained an ankle injury Eilish Kavanagh was unable to participate in the 5K run over the weekend, which airs on RTÉ One at 8.30pm tonight, and John asked her how it felt to sit that challenge out. She said: "I'm very disappointed with it, but they told me it'll take about 3 weeks of rest and it should be ok then. I'm hoping to organise a 5K in my local town with the sports council, maybe the other leaders might come down and join me on the day."
