De Niro plays Lawrence’s father in Joy - a movie about the woman who invented the Miracle Mop.
De Niro and Lawrence were on set until 2am last Wednesday (February 18) morning, shooting inside a house on Federal Street in a working-class section of Wilmington, in Boston.
David O.Russell (American Hustle) is directing Joy, whose cast also includes Bradley Cooper, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen and Edgar Ramirez.
The movie tells the real-life story of Long Island housewife Joy Mangano who banished financial hardship by becoming a billionaire entrepreneur and QVC star with her patented creation, the Miracle Mop.
De Niro will next be seen in The Intern, a comedy about a New York fashion house which introduces an elderly intern on to its staff. The film is set for release late in September. Directed by Nancy Meyers, it also stars Anne Hathaway.
71-year-old De Niro revealed last year that in terms of his own career, the personal highlights list is topped by his portrayal of boxer Jake LaMotta in Raging Bull, followed by his role as Vito Corleone in The Godfather Part II and as Pat Sr in Silver Linings Playbook, which was written and directed by the aforementioned David O.Russell .
