Stage and screen legend Julie Andrews is coming to the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (JDIFF) next month for two special closing day events on Sunday March 29.

The Sound of Music icon will take part in a public interview with RTÉ lyric fm's Aedín Gormley at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and will later close the festival with a gala screening of her most famous film at the Savoy.

During the public interview, members of the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions. 

Gráinne Humphreys, Festival Director, Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, said: "It is a great honour to welcome one of the great legends of stage and screen to Dublin."

She continued: "The Festival is honoured to welcome Dame Julie Andrews to Dublin to introduce the 50th anniversary screening of The Sound of Music and participate in a public interview hosted by Aedín Gormley from RTÉ's Movies and Musicals."

"Of all the illustrious guests who have attended the festival, few have brought such happiness to so many film fans," Humphreys said.

The 2015 JDIFF programme launch takes place on Wednesday February 25, and the festival runs from March 19 to 29.
