Country legend Willie Nelson is to star in a new fantasy-adventure called Waiting for the Miracle to Come, with Bono set to serve as executive producer and write songs for the soundtrack for Nelson to sing.
Rolling Stone reports that the film will be shot on Nelson's Hill Country ranch in Texas, with Australian filmmaker Lian Lunson writing and directing.
Waiting for the Miracle to Come tells the story of a young girl (Sophie Lowe) who finds a letter from her late father with directions to a goldmine in the California desert.
There she meets two retired vaudeville stars, played by Nelson and Charlotte Rampling with a story to tell.
Production is set to begin in March.
Lunson said of her film: "I wrote this script for Willie Nelson; his presence and stillness as an actor is unlike anyone else. And growing up I always wanted to be Charlotte Rampling, so bringing these two icons together on screen is a dream come true for me."
The director previously worked with Nelson on the documentary Willie Nelson: Down Home and interviewed Bono for her documentary Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man.
