Plot details for the upcoming fifth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean have been unveiled.
The latest release in the franchise, titled Dead Men Tell No Tales, has already begun filming in Queensland, Australia this week.
The Jerry Bruckheimer production sees Johnny Depp return as Captain Jack Sparrow, along with Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R McNally and Stephen Graham.
Javier Bardem, Golshifteh Farahani, Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites have all joined the cast.
The official Disney synopsis reads: "Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea… including him."
It continues: "Captain Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artefact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas."
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will open in cinemas on July 7, 2017.
