Professor Brian Cox is to present a new show, Forces of Nature, on BBC One, which, the broadcaster says, "will take viewers on a grand tour of planet Earth to explain what lies behind its startling beauty".
The physicist's four-part show will see him examining the solar system, with Spain, Florida, the Caribbean and the Arctic among the other destinations.
Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, said: "Brian Cox will enthuse and inspire audiences in his debut series for BBC One.
"Revealing some of the most extraordinary phenomena and events on Earth, he will set out to illuminate our understanding of the planet like never before, bringing science to a mainstream audience in a surprising way."
