Wes Anderson took home the award for Original Screenplay for The Grand Budapest Hotel at last night's Writers Guild of America Awards.
The Imitation Game was the other film winner on the night with Graham Moore receiving the award for Adapted Screenplay.
In his acceptance speech Moore paid respect to Alan Turing, the codebreaker played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the movie, "Alan Turing is the person for who we made this film. It is on the shoulders of his genius that we made this film."
True Detective was honoured in the television and new media section, with writer Nic Pizzolatto taking the trophies for Drama Series and New Series.
Pizzolatto referenced the second season of the HBO show in his speech saying, "We’re about halfway through filming season two - I hope you like it. It could be the end of me."
