Marion Cotillard will star alongside Michael Fassbender in the film adaptation of video game Assassin's Creed.
According to Deadline the actress has joined the project but details of her character are being kept under wraps.
It is expected, however, that her character, like Fassbender's, has the potential to carry on in any sequels that might be made.
Assassin's Creed is slated for release in December 2016 with production set to begin this autumn.
Cotillard and Fassbender have already worked together on Macbeth, which is set for release later this year.
