The new series of Peaky Blinders kicks off tonight on RTÉ Two, starring the always-excellent Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, leader of the feared Peaky Blinders gang in post WW1 Birmingham. Thomas prepares to fix his first horse race when a new ruthless policeman from Belfast arrives in town in search of some guns that have been stolen and to impose some order on the increasingly lawless city.

The Meaning of Life with Gay Byrne 10.30pm RTÉ One
In this extended version of the show, actor, writer and TV presenter Stephen Fry talks to host Gay Byrne about his childhood, his career, his criminal past, faith and spirituality, his sexuality and his bi-polar condition. Filmed in the home of Fry's idol Oscar Wilde, the newlywed presenter also speaks about how his loving relationship brought him to a happier state.

Last Tango in Halifax 9pm BBC One
The third series of the drama draws to a close, and it comes as no surprise that there's a cliffhanger involved. It's the morning of Gillian's big day, but the bride-to-be is having serious doubts about marrying Robbie. Caroline tries to reassure her that cold feet on the morning of the big day is totally normal - until she lets on the real reason. Robbie might not forgive her if he found out the truth. Meanwhile, Robbie is fortifying himself at the bar at the hotel.
