Song for a Raggy Boy director Aisling Walsh is to direct David Thewlis, Ken Stott and Miranda Richardson in the BBC One adaptation of the classic JB Priestley stage thriller An Inspector Calls

Filming will begin next month in Yorkshire and An Inspector Calls will air later this year on BBC One. 

Thewlis, who will play the mysterious inspector investigating a young woman's death, said: "An Inspector Calls is a British classic and I am thrilled to be working on this beautiful screen adaptation with Aisling Walsh."

Walsh's other credits include A Poet in New York, Room at the TopWallander, Trial & Retribution, Roughnecks and The Bill
