Following its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the Michael Fassbender-starring and produced western thriller Slow West has been picked up for distribution in Canada.
Deadline.com says British company Soda Pictures acquired the Canadian distribution rights.
Last December, distribution company A24 and satellite broadcaster DirecTV acquired the US rights.
Directed by John Maclean, whom Fassbender previously worked with on the shorts Man on a Motorcycle and Pitch Black Heist, Slow West tells the story of Jay Cavendish (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who embarks on a quest across the American frontier to be reunited with the woman he loves.
Fassbender plays his mysterious travelling companion, Silas, and the duo are pursued by an outlaw, played by Ben Mendelsohn.
Slow West is the first film to be produced by Fassbender and colleague Conor McCaughan's production company, DMC Film.
