Gwyneth Paltrow's mother Blythe Danner has praised how her daughter and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin have handled their separation.
Forty-two-year-old Paltrow parted ways with the Sky Full of Stars singer last March after nine years of marriage, and Danner says they are making their new circumstances work.
Speaking to the New York Post's Page Six column, 71-year-old Danner said: ''They are so smart... both incredibly brilliant. They're making it work, they're great friends and the kids are in wonderful shape. So I have to take my hat off to both of them.''
Paltrow and Martin have two children together - Apple, 10; and eight-year-old Moses.
