Lady Gaga will begin work on new music with Giorgio Moroder in the coming weeks.

The legendary producer – responsible for ground-breaking hits such as I Feel Love by Donna Summer - admitted that he was supposed to have already met up with the US singer, but their studio session had to be pushed back.

When asked who his favourite modern artists are, Moroder said: "I love Rihanna and I'm going to work with Lady Gaga when I'm back.

"I was going to meet her in the studio about a week ago, but I had a terrible cold so I couldn't. So of the new [artists], those two are great."

The 74-year-old Italian also revealed that he has plans to work on a new movie soundtrack. His CV includes music for Midnight Express, Flashdance and Superman III back in the 1970s and '80s.

"I have an offer to do a big movie," he said. "I cannot tell you [yet], but it's not a $150 million but a big movie. So I'm going to have to go back into that and that's not easy."

Giorgio Moroder will also release a new album later this year, which will feature contributions from Britney Spears, Sia, Charli XCX, Foxes and Mikky Ekko.

The album's first single Right Here, Right Now features Kylie Minogue and will be released on January 30.

Moroder also added that he hopes Lana Del Rey will be available to work on a song for his new album in the coming months.
