John Goodman is set to make his West End debut starring alongside Damian Lewis and Tom Sturridge in the David Mamet play American Buffalo.

The Inside Llewyn Davis star previously acted in theatre productions of Waiting for Godot and the musical Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in the States.

Goodman said in a statement: "I’m delighted to be returning to the stage… in such a fantastic project with two brilliant British actors both of whom I've admired for some time. David Mamet is a writer I have loved throughout my career and so I'm thrilled to be bringing his work alive on stage."

American Buffalo examines the fickle nature of honour among thieves as it follows three small-time crooks planning a huge heist.

The latest production of Mamet's classic play will be directed by Daniel Evans and will run from April 16 to June 27 2015 at London's Wyndham's theatre.
