Rihanna has won a UK court battle against Topshop over the selling of T-shirts displaying her picture without her permission.

The battle between the pop star and the retail giant began in 2012 when Topshop started to sell the t-shirts for £22.

The image of Rihanna was captured during a video shoot for her Talk That Talk album by an independent photographer who then licensed the image to Topshop.

The Court of Appeal in London upheld a ban on the high street chain selling the sleeveless shirt featuring a photo of the singer.

Three appeal judges agreed that selling the item without Rihanna's involvement was an act of "passing off", referring to the unauthorised use of a personal image.

Rihanna, one of the world's most successful artists, is thought to be worth over $120 million.
