Interstellar actress Anne Hathaway is to star in Grounded, a one-woman show that will open in New York on April 7.
The 32-year-old Oscar-winner will take centre stage as an elite fighter pilot in the 70-minute stage show, which will be directed by Julie Taymor.
Artistic director Oskar Eustis said: ''Grounded is a brilliant and important play, a meditation on the human and moral costs of our astonishing military technology. This promises to be an unforgettable theatrical event, and an important addition to our national conversation.
''Anne Hathaway and Julie Taymor are amazing, unique artists, and we are honoured to produce them at the Public Theater.''
Hathaway is currently promoting movie Song One, which centres on a young woman's relationship with her ailing brother's favourite musician.
