RTÉ 2fm presenter Dan Hegarty says that Irish acts at this Eurosonic Music Festival in The Netherlands were one of the biggest draws of the whole week.

Derry teenager Soak and Gavin James were among the acts representing Ireland at Eurosonic, the biggest music festival in Europe.

Speaking to RTÉ TEN, Hegarty, presenter of 2fm show The Alternative, said: "The Irish accounted for themselves very well at this year’s festival. Trying to get into the venues where Soak and Gavin James were playing proved very difficult, which is always a good sign.

"There were great reports about sets by All The Luck In The World, All Tvvins, and Orla Gartland. While Kormac’s Big Band, The Riptide Movement, The Raglans, Talos, All We Are and Sisters really impressed too."

Hegarty added: "This year’s Eurosonic festival illustrated that 2015 is going to be a very strong year for music. There were the 'potential' big names like James Bay, Gavin James, Shannon Saunders, and Soak, along with some really unusual acts that will continue to cause confusion and amazement in equal measure!

"Names like Dakh Daughters from Ukraine, and the excellent Heymoonshaker. The UK duo comprise of one dangerous looking rock n roller, and one serious beatboxer. In theory this is a tough one to make work, but Heymoonshaker make it look easy!"

You can listen to Hegarty's Eurosonic report on Eoghan McDermott's show tonight at 8.00pm on 2fm. The Alternative airs Monday to Thursday on RTE 2fm and at 1.00am on RTE 2xm.
