Former West Wing star Bradley Whitford will appear in US cop sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Whitford has been lined up to portray goofy NYPD Detective Jake Peralta's (Andy Samberg) father Roger.
Roger Peralta is an airline pilot who tries to make up for letting Jake down throughout his life by now taking him on a father-son bonding trip.
Whitford will make his first appearance in an episode that will air on Sunday, March 8 in the US and will subsequently follow on RTÉ2.
The 55-year-old Whitford is best known for his Emmy-winning role as White House Chief of Staff Josh Lyman in NBC's legendary drama The West Wing.
Whitford also starred alongside Matthew Perry in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and most recently starred in the short-lived ABC sitcom Trophy Wife and Amazon's Golden Globe-winning series Transparent.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine has previously introduced Eva Longoria and Kyra Sedgwick to its ensemble cast during its current second season.
