The CW's president Mark Pedowitz has revealed that he is keen for the US network to air a rebooted Star Trek.

This year the sci-fi franchise will have been absent from the small screen for a decade, following the demise of Star Trek: Enterprise in 2005. It started way back in 1966 with the original series.

"As a life-long Star Trek fan, I would hope to have Star Trek at The CW," Pedowitz told press at the TCA winter press tour in California. "[But] I have heard no discussion about it going out as a TV series at all."

Hannibal's Bryan Fuller and Battlestar Galactica's Ron Moore are among influential TV bosses to have expressed an interest in bringing the property back to television.
