The first full extended trailer for Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul has been released and it's also been confirmed that Bryan Cranston and current Dublin visitor Aaron Paul will not be appearing in the new show.

Bob Odenkirk stars as oily legal beagle Saul Goodman and the new series follows his serpentine route to success.

The series begins on on AMC in America on February 8 and will be available on Netflix shortly afterwards.

Jonathan Banks also reappears as hitman and fixer Mike Ehrmantraut but the creators of the show have said that despite earlier reports, Cranston and Paul won’t be appearing.

Speaking at a Television Critics’ Association event yesterday (January 10), Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould said: "In the spirit of full disclosure, Walt and Jesse will not appear in season one.”

However, Gould and co-creator Vince Gilligan also said they hadn't completely ruled out a return of the duo at some point in the future.

"The short answer is: The sky is the limit and any of these characters could conceivably show up in future seasons,” added Gilligan.

“But the intention is it will feel proper and organic, because if it feels like a stunt then something has gone terribly wrong in the writers’ room.

"To be completely honest, I want to see them all eventually.”
