Girls confirmed for fifth season by HBO

Lena Dunham's Girls has been renewed for a fifth season by HBO.

The news was announced by the network's president of programming Michael Lombardo at the New York premiere for season four on Monday (January 5).

The latest series of the Golden Globe-winning show debuts on January 11.

Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Adam Driver and Zosia Mamet will all be reprising their roles, with Zachary Quinto, Spike Jonze and Maude Apatow among the guest stars.
