Paul Rudd is set to reprise his role as villainous Bobby Newport in Parks and Recreation.

The Ant-Man star is returning for the NBC comedy's final season.

Executive producer Michael Schurtells told Entertainment Weekly: "He's the world's nicest human being - and the funniest. We made a list of all the people that we wanted to have back, and he was high on the list, so we managed to snag him."

Schurtells also explained why Bobby is returning to Pawnee three years after he was defeated in the campaign race for city council by Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler).

He said: "Ben [Adam Scott] needs to fill a certain position in the town, and he thinks that Bobby might be a good candidate."

The seventh and final season of Parks and Recreation begins on January 13 on NBC.
