Eurosonic is the biggest music festival in Europe and 2fm will not only be there but the station has invited The Riptide Movement along to perform.
Presenter Dan Hegarty will be broadcasting from the event and he told RTÉ TEN: "2fm will be at Eurosonic as usual. I’ll be covering both EBBA (European Border Breakers Awards) and Eurosonic, and I’ll be doing my best to catch up with the Irish acts there, along with some of the European acts that we may well be talking about later on in 2015."
The Alternative presenter added: "The Irish contingent are heading in the direction of Groningen. 2fm’s choice are The Riptide Movement, and they’ll be joined by Sisters, Kormac, All Tvvins, Soak, All The Luck In The World, and Orla Gartland.
"It’s a really strong line-up, so we’re hoping that they continue the run of success that Irish acts have received over the years at the festival."
The festival will also be celebrating one certain Irish man, as Hegarty told us: "Hozier had a better year than even he could have imagined in 2014, capped off with a Grammy nomination.
"He has been named as the Irish recipient at the EBBAs [European Border Breaker Awards]. The ceremony is part of the over all Eurosonic event, and awards artist that have had significant success outside of their native land."
Tune into Dan Hegarty for The Alternative, Monday to Thursday on 2fm at 1am and on 2xm from 10am to 1pm. Eurosonic
will take place in Groningen in the Netherlands from January 14 to 17, 2015.
