Christine Cavanaugh, voice of Babe, has died

The actress voiced many iconic '90's cartoon characters and sadly, Christine Cavanaugh has passed away, aged 51.

Ms Cavanaugh voiced the character of Babe in both his first (1995) and second (1998's Babe: Pig in the City) films in addition to the voice of Rugrats Chuckie.

The actress, who died on December 22, also voiced characters in Sonic the Hedgehog, 101 Dalmatians: The Series, Hercules: The Animated Series, The Powerpuff Girls and Recess.

She also appeared on screen as Mrs Remo in the 1996 hit Jerry Maguire, alongside Tom Cruise and Renee Zellwegger.

Cavanaugh's sister, Deionn Masock confirmed the news however according to the BBC, she said that the cause of death was unknown.

Her family said in a statement in the Los Angeles Times: "She was able to do incredible and amazing things with her voice and bring lots of smiles and many laughs to many people. 

"Her imagination, humour and intelligence were evident to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.

"Many know of her from the roles she played, but in each role there was a part of her showing through that the ones who truly knew her could see."
